Alumni Council Taking Shape at GUS!

“GUS alumni are key shareholders because their lives speak to the value of a GUS education, and because they animate the school’s values in the world. They are, in a very real sense, the keepers of Mean Well, Speak Well, Do Well and their support of the school is inspiring because they want to advance what is best about GUS.” -Martha Delay, Director of Advancement

With a sincere desire to cultivate an even stronger sense of belonging within our alumni community, the school is working to formally launch its first-ever Alumni Council. We anticipate the council to serve as an authentic and proactive voice in helping the school to sustain important GUS traditions while promoting the school’s values of curiosity, community, respect, social responsibility, and sustainability.

Interested in learning more? Interested in becoming a part of the important nucleus group helping to form the Council? Want to do more to help connect the nearly 1,000+ alumni out in the world? We’d welcome your help!

The work of the Council may include:

  • Selecting an Alum of the Year Award, i.e., the Alumni Council’s “Mean Well, Speak Well, Do Well Award” which would recognize an alum working to improve lives/communities.

  • Helping with Alumni Panels + Alumni Guest Speakers (identifying alumni in various fields and sharing contacts)

  • Working to keep alumni directory current, i.e., share GUS alumni biographical and contact information.

  • Encouraging attendance at campus events, future reunions, teacher retirement, annual meeting, virtual book club, as examples.

  • Building networking opportunities for internships, jobs, advice for young GUS graduates.

Please reach out to Martha Delay at mdelay@gus.org and/or complete this online form indicating your interest to participate.

With special thanks to Sarah McGrath ‘13, Jack Norton ‘13, Crystal DaCruz ‘98, Louis Somma ‘88, and Jake Bartlett ‘87 for their encouragement in wanting to see an Alumni Council formed at GUS.
