GUS Student Takes Second Place: Write The Hook Contest

We are pleased to announce that our current sixth grader, Martha Jane Culot won second place in the fourth annual Write The Hook contest hosted by the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library.

Many people from the GUS community may have already heard her award-winning story, "The Ghost in the Attic," read aloud behind the upper school on Halloween. This project was a summation of two areas of focus during the first semester in ELA: hooking the reader and writing a spooky story using sensory imagery. From an early age, Martha Jane has been an avid reader and talented writer. Will we see her work on bookshelves someday? Hopefully so.
